In March 2012, Lonnie Howard, P.E. will step into the presidency role as current president Steven Morrison, P.E., completes his 15th year term as president of Johnson Engineering. Lonnie, a fifth generation Floridian, has worked for Johnson Engineering for 17 years and heads up the Groundwater Resource Group. Lonnie will work closely with Steve throughout the next year transitioning into his new role of leading the company into what he refers to as ‘the solution generation’.
Johnson Engineering has been headquartered in Fort Myers for 65 years and has only known four presidents, Carl Johnson (1946-1968), Archie Grant, P.E. (1968-1979), Forrest Banks, P.E. (1979-1997) and Steven Morrison, P.E. (1997-2012). In keeping with tradition, each previous president planned in advance to “pass the baton” in a healthy, positive way, while still remaining as an engineer to work on select projects. Archie Grant can still be found working on water management projects and Forrest Banks on roadway projects until his full retirement in 2008. Steve Morrison will follow this path as well.
Lonnie Howard began working for Johnson Engineering in 1994 after completing the University of Florida’s graduate program in groundwater and open channel hydraulics. Lonnie currently directs the groundwater resources team at Johnson Engineering and provides hydrological and hydrogeological services for his clients. He has extensive experience in hydrogeological investigations, well construction, wellfield design, groundwater modeling, dewatering plans, deep injection wells, water supply planning, pump design and water use permitting. Lonnie is a partner of the firm having worked on numerous projects for municipalities, utilities, private developers, and agricultural clients.
